Arizona - the land of McCain

I sit here...in the land of all things McCain. It makes me shudder. I'm not sure why. A year ago, I would have told you how proud I was to support him. He was an honest man, a good man, a strong man and someone who stood up for what was right.....who has been replaced by a party pigeon. I can't pinpoint when it happened, but it was the death of the republican party.

I don't hate him. You shouldn't either (Bush-yes, Cheney-yes, Palin-just shake your head and take the vicodin).

Where, oh where, did my John McCain go?

Obama & the tax man..

Personally - I would prefer to see a flat-tax put in place of our current and confusing tax system. I believe everyone paying their fair share would be...fair. It would piss off the big earners and strip them of the IRS loopholes they so readily use to escape paying anywhere near the same percentage of tax that I do. Good.
It would also stop people who don't pay anything, due to low incomes, from free-riding on the backs of our hard work.

Here is Morgan Stanley's analysis on the Obama's policies - http://groups.google.com/group/Raghavs-Picks/attach/e6a5b398e0c35b90/OBAMA_POLICIES.pdf?part=4

The tax implications for top earners is pretty drastic. That one will hurt a bit, but nothing compared to estate taxes - ouch.

Labor Unions - I'm not of one, but taking away the secret ballot of selecting union leadership will be devastating. To my understanding, it will allow for far too much influence and intimidation of union members. Are there any union guys out there? Speak up on this one.

Other areas he covers - health care, energy, trade, credit, regulatory reform and economic rescue (because $700Billion + $150Billion in earmarks just isn't enough).

Read and comment. I will create separate posts for any hot topic and I'm hoping our resident Obama expert (Mr. Tony Vescio) will lead the parade...and give us some food for thought.

Friends, Countrymen, Tony....let's talk about the future.

There's a first time for everything...

I used to be a devout Republican - I got sick of it, hate Dick Cheney and registered Independent.
I despise the Republican party BS that is constantly spewing from their mouths. Sarah Palin?....come on, you couldn't find anyone better than her? and...DICK CHENEY is a liar and the devil incarnate.
I have some dear Democrat friends (and a Democrat wife)...but if I have to see one more post SCREAMING that GWB is an idiot (everyone knows this) or that there is some conspiracy going on....I'm going to punch them in the mouth (not my wife - she never screams, votes all across the board and would probably punch me back - and not in the mouth).

I pray for the day that someone comes forward and puts up enough money to support a third major party....a party that is made for the 80% of us who sit in the middle. We are tired of the rhetoric. We don't always agree, but we respect each other's right to have an opinion.

I know that Google guys could do this...Serge was a client of my old company...cheap bastard needs to get out of his Prius and help.

If you have an opinion - please let us hear it. If you have a sense of humor - please write. I'm going to get my friend Blayne on here...and he's the funniest MoFo you have ever met. He's a smashing writer. I'd like to meet more "Blaynes", but I think God broke the mold after him (I heard it spontaneously combusted). Write me with topics. We'll do polls and discuss them.

Enough ranting for tonight....this is my first blog, my first rant, my first attempt at getting all of those who just feel "Purple"....to get together and talk. Have a nice evening.
